Queens Of The Stone Age announces debut reissue and tour
More Just Announced
Before the revolving-door lineup; before “No One Knows” slinked all over modern-rock radio; before frontman Josh Homme earned the rock-star bona fides that enabled him to steal other rockers’ wives and form a supergroup with former members of Nirvana and Led Zeppelin, Queens Of The Stone Age was but the humble outgrowth of Homme’s pioneering stoner-rock act Kyuss. After splitting from that group and spending some time in Screaming Trees, Homme tightened up Kyuss’ herbally enhanced riffs, preserved its desert-scorched atmosphere, and took to the studio with Kyuss drummer Alfredo Hernández to record what would become Queens Of The Stone Age’s self-titled debut LP. Thirteen years later, Homme and co. are taking that record on the road, once again making it safe for hard rock to be deceptively simple, inconspicuously melodic, and openly lecherous. A deluxe reissue of Queens Of The Stone Age (the album) is due in March, the same month Queens Of The Stone Age (the band) will blaze across the country, playing the record end-to-end—and throwing in the B-sides, too. The band will be in Denver on April 8, and the tour ends just a few days later in Los Angeles, a city where, at this very moment, there’s probably a stripper grinding to “Walkin’ On The Sidewalks.”
