Shows, concerts, and gigs
Conor Oberst And The E-Street Band. No, wait, that's The Mystic Valley Band.
More Just Announced
Snark attack! Here’s this week’s concert updates, replete with a few footnotes and some under-the-breath comments:
Off With Their Heads, February 17 at Community Cycles in Boulder: Bands, bikes, and boys, this is what makes the world go ‘round (well, for some). Off With Their Heads just added this benefit show to their multiple-date tour of Colorado (which also includes a show at 3 Kings Tavern on Valentine's Day). For the $10 cover charge, you can feel good about spending money on underprivileged youth—and also on a gruff-voiced punk band from Minneapolis.
Jimmy Eat World, March 2 at the Ogden Theatre: It’s been 10 years since Jimmy Eat World released the now-heralded Clarity, and to mark the occasion the JEW boys are doing a 10-date (get it?) club tour during which they’ll be performing the album in its entirety. All dates except Denver have sold out. Still, you'd better get your tickets now, or you might miss out on crooning along with “Lucky Denver Mint.”
Thievery Corporation, April 16 at the Fillmore Auditorium: Yet another dub-meets-electronica group high on politically-charged songwriting—except that, clichés aside, Thievery Corporation is actually pretty good at it.
Lamb Of God, April 28 at the Fillmore Auditorium: Plus As I Lay Dying, Children Of Bodom, Municipal Waste, and God Forbid. (Head)bang for your buck, and metal for your black, black soul.
The Decemberists, May 26 at the Fillmore Auditorium: A Portland-based indie-rock band that’s all rainy-day songs and baroque-pop choruses? Sure, we'll take it.
Conor Oberst And The Mystic Valley Band, David Byrne, and Jenny Lewis added to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, June 18-21 in Telluride. So, uh, when did the TBF turn into South By Southwest?
