Soda Jerk opens new venue in the mucky, gelled back hair of LoDo
The Rouge
Conventional wisdom says that underground music clubs and LoDo—land of frat bars and expensive real estate—don’t go together. But the Marquis Theater, run by Soda Jerk Presents, has been contradicting that bit of folk wisdom for the last four and a half years. Now, Soda Jerk is proving that theory doubly wrong with the newly opened Summit Music Hall, located right in the middle of LoDo at 1902 Blake St. The space, which used to house the skeezy Bash Nightclub, features a pair of stages as well as the flexibility to convert its floor space from intimate to mid-sized. Soda Jerk plans to keep its ties to local and national acts, and its grand opening party July 10—featuring The Rogue, Air Dubai, Honor The Fallen, Della, and Cobraconda—affirms those ambitions. Maybe LoDo is big enough for music geeks and Top 40 clubbers to get along after all.
