There was a lot of hype made about the Swayback’s trip to the studio a few years ago for an album that, remarkably, has still yet to materialize. The Denver band’s work with Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin producer Andy Johns may have been as much of a learning experience as a productive one, it seems: Swayback singer-bassist Eric Halborg was tapped to twiddle the knobs as The Lawrence Arms vocalist-bassist Brendan Kelly put together his latest side project, as Alt Press reports. Kelly chose Halborg partially to tap into his extensive classic-rock know-how, as the songwriter works to shuck some of the punk overtones of his prior work with Brendan Kelly And The Wandering Birds.
The Swayback is set to end a four-year drought with a new album to be released in early March. Kelly’s act drops its debut in February from Red Scare Records, so it seems the new act wasn’t tempted to succumb to the Swayback’s glacial production schedules.
