The Earle Family Dynasty

It may be too early to call the Earle family a proper musical dynasty, but they’re working on it. Steve Earle, of course, has been loved for decades as one of Americana’s most restless, literate, and outspoken songsmiths, hitting up country, folk, rock ’n’ roll, and all points in between. His sister Stacey Earle is a songwriter in her own right who of late has collaborated with her husband Mark Stuart. As fate would have it, both Earle siblings will be in town this week to play separate shows: Stacey (with Stuart) on Thursday and Steve at Twist & Shout on Friday. Steve is playing a string of promotional shows in support of his new Townes, a tribute to his late friend Townes Van Zandt—a man after whom he just so happened to name his songwriter son, Justin Townes Earle. (And no, Justin is not playing Denver this week. So much for the trifecta.)
