The Foot go “Rolling In The Deep”
By now, you’ve heard Adele’s breakout hit “Rolling In The Deep” enough times to become completely sick of it and/or for it to become part of your DNA—it’s been playing on every radio station that can plausibly stretch its format to accommodate it, blasting out of car windows, your girlfriend's stereo, your iPod (come on, you know you love it, don’t front). Well, one group of plucky local musicians decided to deal with it the only way that makes sense—by covering it. Hence, the video you’ll see below, from The Foot.
Whether it emanated from a place of genuine admiration, a desire to jump on the mighty bandwagon, or just a need to get the damn tune out of their collective head, the results are actually pretty damn fine. The song gets transformed a bit into a kind of slick, polished, indie pop concoction that wouldn’t sound out of place on the radio following a OneRepublic tune. Maybe it can’t really hold a candle to the original (sorry, dudes), but it does justice to the tune and, if you’d never heard the original, you could easily fall in love with it just as easily through this version. Oh, and the video—a classic “camera on a dude walking and lip synching interspersed with the band playing” cut—is nicely done, considering it must have had a minimal budget to shoot with. See it below, and if you fall in love with this version of the tune, you can grab it off The Foot’s Bandcamp.
