And the award this week for weirdest concert pairing goes to: Timbaland and The Fray. The folks at the Gothic Theatre just announced, via Twitter and Facebook, that Timbaland’s special opening guests for his show Jan. 26 at the venue will be Denver’s own piano-rock balladeers The Fray. Maybe it was The Fray’s recent cover of Kanye West’s “Heartless” that won the hip-hop super-producer over? Who knows, but be warned: With The Fray’s heavyweight local fan base, along with Timbaland’s own broad appeal, this show—as odd as it may seem, sappy sing-alongs followed by dance-party club beats—is likely to be a packed house. Better get those tickets now.
