Just Announced The Shpongletron Experience comes to the Bluebird April 20

It’s time to pull out those last few lint-covered tabs of acid you’ve been saving for a trippy day—or it will be, come April 20, when the psychedelic insanity of The Shpongletron Experience comes to the Bluebird Theater. What the hell’s a Shpongletron, you ask? It’s the “visual expression of of Shpongle’s multi-dimensional auditory experience,” according to the release that just hit our inbox. And if you’re at all familiar with Shpongle’s mind-warping psytrance and psychedelic downtempo, you know that means the Shpongletron is going to be one hell of a mindfuck.

Specifically, the Shpongletron features a platform that soars 18 feet above the stage, with four levels of “psychedelic mayhem,” it promises “the best in modern eye candy,” including platforms on each side for dancers with LED Hula-Hoops and other glowing bits, and a “blooming lotus-like array of screens.” There’s also a 6-foot tall Shpongle Mask (as seen on the covers of Shpongle’s albums and above) with projected visuals and animatronics. In other words, plan on losing your shit and telling people that once the drugs kicked in, you’re pretty sure you saw, and possibly talked to, God. And as an added bonus, if you want to follow this electric acid Kool-Aid test around, Grateful Dead-style, you can hit up three of the shows without ever leaving the state!
