Trey Anastasio coming to Denver in March
Witness the majesty of Trey Anastasio's guitar face
More Just Announced
Jam band fans, Phishheads, and anyone who enjoys seeing intensely goofy guitar faces being made onstage, get your credit cards ready: Phish frontman-guitarist Trey Anastasio is heading out on tour for “A Very Special Acoustic And Electric Evening With Trey Anastasio And The Trey Anastasio Band.” He’ll be playing a set of acoustic material drawn from the entire span of his career, as well as an electric set with a six-piece band featuring Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass), Ray Paczkowski (keyboards), Russell Remington (tenor saxophone and flute), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet and vocals), and Natalie Cressman (trombone and vocals). Presumably those last two musicians will alternate the horns and vocals, because it’s really hard to sing and play a trumpet or trombone at the same time.
He’ll appear at the Ogden Theatre in Denver on back-to-back nights, March 1 and 2. This is a rare small-club set for the Phish leader, so it will presumably sell out quickly. Superfans can request tickets early, basically entering themselves into a sort of ticket lottery, via Anastasio’s website starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 14. Those who don’t win can spend the morning of Jan. 20, when tickets officially go on sale, frantically refreshing the Ticketmaster website for a chance to squeeze into a tiny club and freak out on mushrooms in the company of 1,500 other patchouli-scented fanatics.
