UPDATE: Don’t steal from Patton Oswalt
Hey Nick Madson, Patton Oswalt just called you out. Madson, a Denver-based comic and stage actor, has apparently been lifting bits from Oswalt, as well as from Dave Attell and Louis C.K.—and Oswalt is not happy about it. He posted this blog yesterday morning, with accompanying video clips of Madson at a venue in Iowa doing what seems to be an entirely stolen set. “That Nick Madson is a thief is undeniable,” writes Oswalt. “Then I find out that one of the other comedians on the show confronted Madson about the bits. And he said, in effect, ‘I write for Patton, and Louie, and Dave. I wrote those bits.’ So fuck him.” Indeed—the video doesn’t lie.
UPDATE: Patton Oswalt posted this lengthy blog yesterday, confirming that Nick Madson reached out to him via MySpace to “appologize [sic]” for the whole debacle. Oswalt responded with this: “I’m sorry I merely called you a ‘thief.’ You are also an asshole, sociopath, and liar.”
Also, we should clarify that Madson may or may not be currently residing in Denver. His MySpace says yes, but his Facebook says Illinois.
