Yerkish releasing its drummer into the wild
Feb. 25 show marks last performance with founding member
Yerkish in its Xmas finest
Despite what you may have heard, the rumors of Yerkish’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. The heavy art-rock outfit is undergoing some changes, however—drummer and founding member Ryan Eschenbach is leaving the group to focus on adult responsibilities, including his child, his design work, and his Hall & Oates/Danzig tribute band, Manzig. (That last one may be a joke, but with this band, it’s hard to be sure.) Eschenbach’s last show with the band (at least until the inevitable reunion a few years from now) is Feb. 25 at the Gothic Theater. Vices I Admire and The Foot will be playing as well, and there will be some new Yerkish swag available for monkey-loving fans.
After this show, vocalist Tim Kaminski, guitarist Nate Huisgen, and bassist Brent Moran will soldier on with a new, as-yet-undisclosed drummer, with a new release coming later this year. In the meantime, enjoy some footage of the band releasing Eschenbach into the wild, where he will presumably roam free while intermittently banging on things in a rhythmic fashion.
