The Album Leaf and Sea Wolf at Bluebird Theater

The Album Leaf began as a solo project for Tristeza’s Jimmy LaValle, but it’s proven over the years to be much more popular than his main band. The new A Chorus Of Storytellers (released on Sub Pop) expands on LaValle’s melody-charged mood music with ambient synth textures and lilting pianos. It’s a heavy-hearted effort, and may be his strongest yet. Tourmate Sea Wolf is far more ubiquitous than it might seem, at least if you’re in the target demographic. The L.A.-based band, led by frontman Alex Brown Church, is surely accessible to the youth set, and why not? Church writes innocuous indie pop that is lightly morose and irresistibly hooky.
