The Band Of Heathens—a collaboration among Austin-based alt-country singers Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi, and Gordy Quist—blends the melancholic swing of blues with a Western twang. Telling stories of transient motel living, lost loves, and other tales of the modern cowboy, the three share vocals and find their individual strength in it. They’ve released four discs since 2006, including 2009’s One Foot In The Ether; the fact that half of those releases have been live albums affirms that the group is best experienced in a live setting.
