Best Fwends, Totally Michael, Safe Boating Is No Accident, and Syndrome Of A Down at Rhinoceropolis
Yelping along to pre-created tracks of digitized computer whizzes, homemade R&B remixes, and traditional instrumentation, Best Fwends’ sound is nearly impossible to categorize. The duo treats music almost as a secondary component anyway; its erratic blend of screamy dance-rock and pop song mash-ups doesn’t always translate well to record, but it gleefully comes to explosive fruition in a live setting. Visually (and musically) akin to acts like The Death Set and Math The Band, Best Fwends’ Anthony Davis and Dustin Pilkington usually either dress alike, dress in tape, or forgo dress entirely for rambunctious and sweaty shows that leave both band and audience out of breath.
