Bobby Long and Marcus Foster at Hi-Dive

His spare, acoustic ballads, gravelly voice, and prodigious harmonica blowing may not be enough to distinguish Britain’s young Bobby Long from other Dylanesque folk-revivalists like Conor Oberst or The Felice Brothers—but then, none of those guys are buddies with actor Robert Pattinson. The Twilight star got his friend’s lonesome ballad “Let Me Sign” (co-written with Marcus Foster, who also appears here) on the extended version of the film’s soundtrack, and as with anything associated with the emo-pire juggernaut, it launched him full-force into a world of screaming, crying teenage fans before he’d even released an album.
