The Burned and Carbon Choir at Cervantes' Other Side
There’s nothing to dislike about Carbon Choir. The band’s piano-driven, coffeehouse rock is delivered with genuine skill and passion, the songs are solid and well-written, and the guys in the band are probably really nice people. That said, there's nothing particularly distinctive here either. It’s all polished, warm, and sensitive, not to mention pretty goddamn boring. Coldplay and The Fray have made a mint off similar material, but that’s the issue—you’ve heard all of this many, many times before. There’s nothing to distinguish Carbon Choir from dozens of similar acts, making it a hard band to dislike, but an even harder one to get enthused about.
