The Crystal Method at Beta
The Crystal Method—a glitchy American act that pulls from the dustier reaches of The Chemical Brothers’ big-beat breaks—joined the ranks of LCD Soundsystem in 2006 by releasing Drive, part of a Nike-commissioned Original Run series. The shoe company no doubt picked the Method on the basis of albums like 1997’s Vegas, a disc that helped define the ’90s electronica boom. More recently, the duo remixed its first single, the civil-rights-themed “Now Is The Time,” replacing samples from a Jesse Jackson speech with others by Barack Obama. In support of the 2009 album Divided By Night, Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland will take to the decks to shoot plenty of dance-floor shrapnel.
