Dave Attell is unmistakably a road comic, as documented throughout the four seasons of Insomniac on Comedy Central (which aired through late 2004). And by all accounts—the long tours, the hard partying, the non-stop working—Attell should be burnt out by now. But even after crisscrossing the country an innumerable amount of times, being on nearly every late-night talk show, and even getting booted from the air on the short-lived Comedy Central rehash of The Gong Show, Attell is still going strong. The years haven’t softened him either: His act is as gruff as his gravelly voice, and his humor remains deliriously depraved, which is probably why the AVN awards (the Oscars of adult videos) picked him to host this year’s show.
