Dia Frampton, Andrew Allen, and Sam Lee at Bluebird Theater

Though she was introduced to a wider audience on the first season of NBC’s The Voice—where she went on to finish second—Dia Frampton had already released four albums (one on a major label) with her sister Meg long before Blake Shelton was fist-pumping with excitement about her vocals. The striking, starry-eyed singer was a natural fit for TV, but her voice manages to rise above the sometimes-bland production on its own on her solo debut, Red. Precocious yet powerful enough, Frampton’s sweet singing overlaps perfectly with bubbly pop like “Don’t Kick The Chair,” which features a serviceable verse from Kid Cudi, and even manages to bring a little honest-to-goodness cuteness to the barfy, overly orchestrated duet with Shelton, “I Will.”
