DJ Z-Trip and Kid Koala at Ogden Theatre
More than a decade before Girl Talk threw mash-up into hyper-speed, there was DJ Z-Trip. Equal parts traditional vinyl scratcher and Serato enthusiast, the Arizona-bred DJ is known to interlace everything from classical compositions to Motown to Metallica. Recently taking over DJ AM’s residency at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Z-Trip is also currently on the road with fellow mixmaster Kid Koala. DJing since the mid-’90s, Koala is a classically trained pianist whose focus is on the art of the scratch, piecing together contemporary tracks with old jazz recordings and obscure television samples. The Vancouver DJ is also an author/illustrator of the graphic novel Nufonia Must Fall.
