    Drive-By Truckers at Boulder Theater

With 2008’s masterful Brighter Than Creation’s Dark, Drive-By Truckers resumed a run of great albums many fans felt was broken with 2006’s A Blessing And A Curse, the band’s final record with singer-songwriter-guitarist Jason Isbell. While A Blessing was marred by the band’s in-fighting and stress over financial problems, Brighter found Drive-By Truckers in a better place personally and creatively, going on to be one of their best-selling and most critically acclaimed efforts. The band kept busy last year, backing soul legend Booker T. on record as well as at Bonnaroo, while also releasing a live CD/DVD, a rarities disc, and prepping songs for its brand-new studio album, the rock-oriented The Big To Do.
