Electric Six, The Gay Blades, and Millions Of Brazilians at Larimer Lounge

Part disco, part dirtbag rock ’n’ roll, Detroit’s Electric Six have been aiming to simultaneously please and offend since the late ’90s. Starting out under the moniker The Wildbunch, the group eventually evolved into the Electric Six, with the Freddie Mercury/Richard Cheese-inspired Dick Valentine leading the other pseudonym-heavy members through clever creep out songs like “Gay Bar” and “Danger! High Voltage.” With the release of its seventh album, 2009’s KILL, Electric Six proves that when exclamation points won’t do, the all-caps approach will hopefully offer the same kind of sexy shock-rock value.
