High Places exist in their own world of organic, experimental electronica. The sampler-savvy Rob Barber builds watery soundscapes for vocalist Mary Pearson’s layered nursery-rhyme memes to float over, creating songs that induce hazy sleep as much as they move feet. Recently transplanted to Los Angeles from Brooklyn, the earthy duo just released High Places vs. Mankind, a dreamy, druggy second effort that is insanely tripped out and endlessly fascinating.
