Joe Purdy at Bluebird Theater
Although Arkansas folker Joe Purdy has been operating independently for almost a decade, his music as of late has garnered significant attention through exposure on Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, and even that cute little ad where Kia owners forget which side their gas tank is on. Often only accompanied by a single guitar or banjo, his wavering voice gives honesty to lyrics about love, travel, and a desire for more simple times. The commercial success also sent major labels courting, though he so far has turned down all offers. Instead, Purdy utilizes the freedom of his own label, Mud Town Crier Records, to release albums, including 2009’s Last Clock On The Wall.
