Les Claypool and The Dead Kenny Gs at Ogden Theatre
Les Claypool’s distinctive bass-slapping and growling singing voice helped ’90s alt-rock jam band Primus catapult to more mainstream success than a band with songs like “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver” should probably ever have expected. In his post-Primus career, Claypool has linked up with the prog and jam scenes, collaborating with Phish’s Trey Anastasio and Stewart Copeland of The Police in the band Oysterhead and guitar virtuoso Buckethead in Colonel Claypool’s Bucket Of Bernie Brains. He appears here in support of the just-released Of Fungi And Foe, a full-length solo follow-up to 2006’s Of Whales And Woe.
