Leslie And The Ly's and Christopher The Conquered at Larimer Lounge

Should anybody claim to have a more disorienting act than Leslie And The Ly’s, they obviously haven't seen Leslie’s hellacious Midwestern beehive hairdo, RV full of gem sweaters and gold-lamé pants, and nimble talk-sing vocals. Songs like “Can’t Stop The Gems,” from 2006’s Door Man’s Daughter, boast of her apparel’s improbable might; she also covers such topics as hair-braiding, Willow, and zombies. (The 2008 7-inch single “Zombie Killer” even featured a cameo by Elvira, an obvious inspiration and fellow lover of all things camp.) Leslie goes country-by-way-of-Garageband on her newest, Back2Back Palz, with twangy guitars and a softer pop approach, although the familiar bombastic drum machine—heard on every other release—is a Leslie staple.
