A superstar DJ who tends toward the big and glossy, Berlin-born Paul Van Dyk is a sharp, streamlined trance stalwart. He’s achieved the highest echelon of DJs, orbiting in the same jet-setting stratosphere as Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, and John Digweed. In 2007, he released his first studio album in four years, In Between, which doesn’t really follow the latest trends in progressive trance but is rich with well-crafted club-hypnotizers that have a casual subtlety that is uniquely Van Dyk’s. A new studio record is in the works for next year.
