Pavement, Jenny Lewis, and Johnathan Rice at 1stBank Center

Pavement began promoting—and selling tickets for—a 2010 reunion show and a subsquently announced tour an entire year before the initially scheduled show dates. It'd seem absurd if the once-obscure band hadn't sat so well with a swelling number of listeners over the past decade: The raggedy, smart-assed guitar-rock of such albums as Slanted And Enchanted and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain has aged as a reminder of sweeter times rather than of hip jackassery. Especially compared to some of the lo-fi slop prominent in indie-rock these days, catching the reunion tour will actually be a bit like going back to those "Gold Soundz," even if the band never intended things to turn out that way.
