Reverend Horton Heat, Deadbolt, and Reno Divorce at Ogden Theatre
Jim Heath, a.k.a. the Reverend Horton Heat, has made a career out of nostalgia: As the pinnacle of the early-’90s rockabilly revival, the Rev has spastically twitched out a rollickingly jittery twang that brought a party-punk swagger back to a scene drenched by moody downer grunge. In the following decade, he got more mainstream-friendly while expanding his sound, which wasn’t always a good thing; things hit a low point on the bland scale with a 2005 Christmas album. Things have since picked up (for the better) with 2009’s Laughin’ And Cryin’ With The Reverend Horton Heat, and still few of his peers have maintained his loyal following and in-concert frenzy.
