Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival at Comfort Dental Amphitheatre

One of the last bands standing in the diminished nü-metal scene, Korn—who plays here on the main stage at this year’s Mayhem Festival—is responsible for much of the nihilistic caterwauling and self-pitying jackassery plaguing rock radio this decade. After dabbling in electronic music on 2005’s See You On The Other Side, the band went back to basics (yay?) on the just released Korn III—Remember Who You Are. Also appearing is Rob Zombie, a metalhead who’s managed to transform himself into something of a media wünderkind. He took White Zombie from underground metal to cartoonish horror-rock, becoming hugely popular in the process. His solo stuff hasn’t been nearly as well received, though the Zombie brand continues to draw nevertheless.
