Roger Clyne And The Peacemakers and Angie Stevens And The Beautiful Wreck at Black Sheep

Roger Clyne And The Peacemakers might draw from classic country and roots-rock sounds, but you can’t accuse them of completely living in the past: The Peacemakers' 2008 CD/DVD Turbo Ocho was written, arranged, recorded, and posted online at a song-per-day clip for eight days, and this year's live album, Glow In The Dark, was also released online, track-by-track, over the course of 14 weeks. That might sound reckless on paper, but it seems working at a rushed pace is a good fit for the band's personality. Songs like "Captain Suburbia" and "Persephone" actually don't sound all that dashed-off, but they do bring out some bouncy spontaneity and a wry sense of humor.
