Skinny Puppy and Vverevvolf Grehv at Ogden Theatre

Skinny Puppy has long been exalted as industrial demigods for its punishing electronics and effects-processed guitars. The politically charged Canadian band created a scene before there really was one, and its early influence on (and friendships with) guys like Trent Reznor and Al Jourgensen was pivotal to what would become modern industrial music. Core members Nivek Ogre and Cevin Key have been the only constants in the act’s dense and storied career, which includes a breakup in the mid-’90s and a surprising reunion in 2000. New albums (the latest was 2007’s Mythmaker) have favored well with critics, and Skinny Puppy has continually reset the standards for the genre. The band's current tour—dubbed the In Solvent See Tour—is likely a reference to its former label, SPV, whose financial problems delayed the release of a new album.
