The Sounds, Foxy Shazam, and Semi Precious Weapons at Ogden Theatre

When Swedish group The Sounds’ debut Living In America appeared in 2003, it was clear the band wasn’t trying to push any modern musical boundaries. Rather, with the help of a cigarette-laced aesthetic and tales of coked-out girls and boys giving their hearts to rock 'n’ roll, the quintet breathed synthesized life to the virtually flat genre of pop-rock. This year’s release, Crossing The Rubicon, shows vocalist Maja Ivarrson and her dudes maturing away from a party lifestyle, but the band remains the closest thing to a time when Blondie was breaking ground and Iggy Pop had yet to discover yoga.
