Suckers create a complex aural ecosystem where circuit-bending, toys, and more traditional instruments bounce off one another to produce oddly bewitching songs. The result is a haunting hodgepodge of tribal rhythms, hazy harmonizing, and futuristic technology repurposed in the service of primitive sounds. So it makes sense that Suckers keep company with other similarly minded, au courant groups like Yeasayer, whose Anand Wilder helmed the group’s 2009 self-titled EP as well as their debut full-length, this year’s Wild Smile.
