Tab Benoit and Hello Kavita at Gothic Theatre
Delta bluesman Tab Benoit was a prodigy when he first made his name on the club scene as a teenager; now in his early 40s, he’s a grizzled veteran. In addition to touring regularly, he owns a café in his hometown of Houma, La., and runs Voice Of The Wetlands, an organization founded to promote awareness of Louisiana’s coastal-erosion problem. Benoit approaches live shows with a freewheeling fire that eschews set lists and standardized arrangements in favor of following his muse wherever it leads. His latest studio effort is 2007’s Power Of The Pontchartrain, but last year also saw the release of a live album, Night Train To Nashville, backed by Louisiana’s LeRoux.
