Trace Bundy is an acoustic guitar hero. The Colorado-based virtuoso first picked up the stringed instrument as a young child, and upon later realizing he could make more intricate arrangements with both hands, abandoned picking altogether for a more classical guitar style. His influences range from the folk-rock of Ani Difranco to the lyrical jazz of David Wilcox; Bundy’s own material is a clear culmination, an involved arrangement of instrumental acoustic rock and harmonic adult contemporary. Opener Damien Jurado has made his name with folk-based sounds and stunningly direct yet finely measured lyrics. His vocal/lyrical prowess is as strong as ever on his ninth studio album, 2008’s Caught In The Trees, released by his primary label, indie stronghold Secretly Canadian.
