Patrick is a young man in love; the only problem is that he’s in a coma. But, lucky for him, he’s telekinetic (à la Carrie) and has the ability to communicate with the object of his affection—his nurse—via an electric typewriter, and also by raining death and destruction on her life. It was, after all, the bloody bathtub murder/electrocution of his mother and her lover that brought Patrick to his current vegetable state, and old habits of hyper-psychosis and jealousy are hard to give up.
