The Watching Hour: Troll 2 at Starz FilmCenter
Since Tim Burton’s Ed Wood humanized the creator of Plan 9 From Outer Space, once the consensus choice for worst movie ever made, several other so-bad-it’s-good non-classics have scrambled for the title, including Manos: The Hands Of Fate and Gigli. But an argument is being made, loudly, for Troll 2,which even has its own documentary, Best Worst Movie, and accompanying fan website (bestworstmovie.com) trumpeting the cause. The story concerns a family trip to Nilbog, a kingdom filled with the man-eating monsters out of a little boy’s nightmares. Except the monsters are goblins, not trolls, which is but the first indication that the filmmakers didn’t know what they were doing.
