Once a great drinking bar with average pub grub, the West End Tavern is now a great drinking bar with basic but quality food. Chef Chris Blackwood moved over from Jax next door, and brought 20 years of kitchen experience with him. Never fear—the Tavern still serves a mean burger, but the menu has stepped up to include ribs (all you can eat on Mondays) and pecan-crusted, blackened catfish. Unique sides like smoked gouda grits and deviled eggs with bacon show that even simple foods deserve your attention.
