Belly Up A golden ticket (to Monroe Street)

fatsometer

Anyone familiar with Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory has fantasized about a golden passport to the land of chocolate. Those dreamers will never get to meet an eccentric sweets-wizard, but may be interested in the Monroe Street Chocolate Walk on April 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Instead of relying on the Charlie Bucket strategy, purchase a ticket in advance for $12—there are only 100. A golden ticket gets the lucky holder a bag. Inside the bag is a list. The list details more than 20 restaurants and shops on Monroe Street that will be giving away chocolate goodies, including a Death by Chocolate sundae at Michael's Frozen Custard (2531 Monroe St., 608-231-3500) and a chocolate-chip-cookie-dough egg roll at Bluephies (2701 Monroe St., 608-231-3663). Maurie's Fine Chocolates (1637 Monroe St., 608-255-9092), James J Chocolate Shop (3514 Monroe St., 608-238-4243), and Pinkoko Confections will also contribute chocolate morsels of love. Piling on to the already hard-to-resist, white-hot attractiveness of the whole thing, it's also a benefit for the free Henry Vilas Zoo. Wonka's gimmick was only slightly better.

Fatsometer: 8. As rationalizations go, this one is near-perfect. If it's a chocolate walk, all that walking will burn off those calories. Right?
