As hard as it may right now be to think about going outside to do much of anything--let alone sit for hours watching a play--American Players Theatre just released its 2010 season schedule, and it mixes some very cool surprises mixed with the traditional standbys. After debuting last year, APT's new indoor Touchstone Theatre will feature three plays and playwrights APT has never produced before: The Syringa Tree by Pamela Gien, Waiting For Godot by Samuel Beckett, and Exits And Entrances by Athol Fugard. The lineup at the “Up The Hill” outdoor theater also introduces two new names to APT: William Inge with Picnic, and W. Somerset Maugham with The Circle. Providing the season's always-welcome yearly dose of Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw are As You Like It, All’s Well That Ends Well, and Major Barbara. Tickets go on sale for previous ticket-buyers in March, and for rest of the general public in April. The A.V. Club's picnic basket it loaded, even though we’re going to have to stare at it wistfully for the next eight months.
