An impromptu in-office performance from Pezzettino

People come by our local offices pretty often to drop off CDs or press releases. But in the almost three years I've been in The Onion's Madison offices, I've never once had a musician drop by to actually sing us a song. Well, on Monday afternoon my colleagues Jason and Cameron and I were working our desks when a woman with an accordion strapped on walked into the office. This turned out to be Margaret Stutt of the Milwaukee-based Pezzettino. She brought along copies of her new CD Lion., but also announced her intention to perform a tune right then and there. We grabbed our little digital camera as she sang and squeezed her way through "Parasite," the first track on the CD. Sorry for the less-than-ideal audio quality—blame the camera and not Margaret, who as you can see, did not hesitate to let her voice boom out amid the cubicles. Again, this wasn't planned, she didn't call or email ahead, she just done walked in and did it. And in this case, it was a pretty cool treat.
Not only was the song good, but again, no one ever does this, and we don't sit here all day expecting it. Nice going, Margaret. We're not sure we want to tempt just anyone to come in and do this, but it's still pretty sweet when something like this happens. And if you've got something good going for you, your time might be better spent doing this than putting together an overly fancy press kit. We'll think about this further...
