Asher Roth to play at Taste Of Madison?
We're pretty used to the general county-fair quality of Taste Of Madison's music lineup: The annual fall celebration of food on Capitol Square (Sept. 5-6) usually boasts some classic-rock also-rans; modern-rock and pop-country stages; and, by way of relief, an assortment of Latin music and local hip-hop. So we frankly weren't even on the lookout when 77 Square music writer Katjusa Cisar put out word via her Twitter feed that somewhat-likeable dormz-4-life rapper Asher Roth will be playing the festival. We checked the Taste site, and there he is indeed, slated to headline the 93.1 Jamz stage on Sunday, Sept. 6, following a set from local standbys The Crest. Will Taste finally become, if only for one day, an ideal place for UW-Madison freshmen to exercise poor judgment and learn such life lessons as "don't have sex if she's too gone/ when it comes to condoms, put two on"? We'll probably have to go check the scene out in spite of ourselves.
