A-Trak, Big K.R.I.T., Yelawolf, and more
Big K.R.I.T.
More Just Announced
Thanks to the Majestic, Madison is going to be buried in performances by blog-hyped rappers this spring, with the booking of three big hip-hop shows. Here’s the breakdown:
First up is Alabama rapper Yelawolf, who rolls into the Majestic on March 29, hot on the heels of being signed to Eminem’s Shady Records and the release of his stellar mix-tape, Trunk Muzik 0-60. Yela hit Madison back in October, when he opened for Wiz Khalifa, but he’s the main attraction this time.
Then, a little more than a week later, on April 8, Freddie Gibbs makes his third Madison appearance in eight months, moving up to the Majestic from his recent shows at High Noon (in January) and at the UW Terrace. Gangsta Gibbs brings with him another hotly tipped rapper: Mississippi’s Big K.R.I.T., who was signed to Def Jam after the release of his masterful self-produced free mix-tape, K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, in 2010.
And finally, on May 6 the Majestic hosts A-Trak’s Magic 8-Ball Tour, which will feature A-Trak’s DMC-winning spinning, and performances from Kid Sister (she of “Pro Nails” fame) and The Gaslamp Killer.
Those three shows could fill the Majestic’s hip-hop quota for the entire year, and they take place with six weeks of each other.
