A.V. Sessions: The Antiprism's "The Antiprism"

antiprism

Madison's not exactly a hot destination for metal these days, but we had some good experiences with the heavy stuff in 2009. Old and young extreme-metal masters like Suffocation and Skeletonwitch made occassional stops in town, and our top 10 list of Madison albums includes music from three local metal bands. One of them, The Antiprism, falls somewhere between the bare-bones riffing of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and the haunting beauty of Scandinavian black metal on a self-titled album released a few months back. The group may wear hooded capes and mirrored aviators and claim to be from outer space, but it also produces some of the finest heavy-rock songwriting Madison has heard of late. For the latest installment of our exclusive in-studio video series, The Antiprism (who play this Sunday at The Frequency) joined us at Madison's DNA Studios to grant us a brief interview and perform the album's first track, entitled—what else?—"The Antiprism."
