More Just Announced

Prepare to be outraged, Tea Partiers, touchy lefties, and just about everyone else of any political persuasion that includes the ability to get offended: Bill Maher's on his way to deliver a series of snorts meant to reverberate across Madison's touchy political landscape. Maher’s comedy leans heavily on his controversial personal politics—he argues for the abolishment of religion, not just to make funnies at the expense of the Pope, but because he truly despises the institution (as he demonstrated none too subtly in his 2008 documentary Religulous). His Aug. 1 show at Overture Hall could be as much a heavy political forum as it is a gleefully antagonistic comedy act, so make sure to study up on current events and warm up your smirking muscles beforehand. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m.
