Brink Lounge bans hip-hop
The Brink Lounge has decided not to have any more hip-hop shows after some kind of incident Saturday night that ended in arrests, according to a Capital Times story posted Monday. In the article, local MC Rob Dz tells TCT he was pepper-sprayed by cops and then arrested after a fight that broke out after a Valentine's Day hip-hop show. From the story, it's hard to discern exactly what happened, but that's the nature of these things. Of course, it's pretty ridiculous to get it in your head that hip-hop always equals violence, especially if we're talking the kind of hip-hop that prevails in Madison. Chances are that at worst, a couple of people acted stupid, which can happen pretty much anywhere. Then again, all is not lost: Clubs like The Frequency and the High Noon Saloon still have hip-hop shows lined up, and don't have an atmosphere that causes people to wonder when continental breakfast is served.
