If Jack White ever started another band and learned to just chill the fuck out, his music would sound a hell of a lot like Kentucky’s Cage The Elephant: See the freewheeling, bluesy but hook-heavy “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” on the group’s self-titled debut. Cage’s even newer record, Thank You Happy Birthday, bubbles over with similar gritty charm, and unlike White, doesn’t extensively worship at the altar of the blues. But the band’s healthy album sales at a time when moving records isn’t so easy shows plenty worship at the band’s altar, which means a lot of people will be happy to know that Cage The Elephant will be playing a free show at the Majestic Theatre on March 1 as promoted by Jack Daniels’ Studio No. 7. All you have to do is be over 21 and register online, then get in line early on March 1, since attendance is limited. A free show plus the possibility of complimentary booze? Sounds like a win-win.
