Has it really been 25 years? It has, and to celebrate, a 25th anniversary party at Capital Brewery (7734 Terrace Ave., Middleton, 608-836-7100) will rock the Middleton Bier Stube, Warehouse & Bier Garten on April 17, where much reminiscing will undoubtedly unfold. Many locals have enjoyed a can of Capital without knowing the tale of the bolt of inspiration that struck Ed Janus and friends while sharing pitchers in the late, great 602 Club. “Start a craft brewery representing classic Wisconsin style lagers!” They actually followed through, and April 17, 1986 was the fateful day Capital produced its first beer. The beer list started with only two choices, but today Capital makes 16-20 brews every year. The party kicks off at 1 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony and entertainment from the Supper Club Playboys until about 5 p.m., when Brewmaster Kirby Nelson will introduce a special 25th year brew called “Eternal Flame.”
FATSOMETER: 7. All that beer goes straight to the head by way of the gut, and the sweet and salty snacks on hand won’t help either.
