Cloud Cult is now an almost-Madisonian band (sort of)
It has long been clear to The A.V. Club that Minnesota-born band Cloud Cult might as well be a Madison outfit. Leader Craig Minowa is an organic farmer, after all, and the band is so committed to eco-friendly touring and CD manufacturing that it was a factor in the decision not to sign with a bigger record label. Plus, Minowa likes to write lyrics about the mysteries of spirituality and humanity, and the band's shows always feature a painter or two whipping up live visuals on stage. This, combined with the band's Madison crowd, tells you where Cloud Cult (ahem) really belongs. Well, they're one step closer: Minowa and his wife Connie (who does much of that live painting) have left Minnesota to pamper a new patch of dirt somewhere West of Madison. We mention it now because we'll be meeting with Craig Minowa out in Spring Green this week to interview him for a piece that will run ahead of Cloud Cult's April 16 show at the Majestic Theatre. If you've got any questions or advice for him about Wisconsin living, leave a comment. Let's make a nice first impression on our new nearly-neighbors.
